Hello From Beautiful Thailand
Hello everyone, and welcome to the first entry in my blog. We Departed Calgary Airport at 7:55 and flew backwards to Minneapolis and then to Narita in Japan, that was a looong brutal 12 hour flight, But luck was on my side and it turned out that the seat next to chad and i was open so I ended up laying down over both seats and managed to catch a little rest. Once in japan we met our friend Mel at the gate as she was on the same flight to Bangkok. After another loooong 7 hour flight we finally arived in Bangkok. What an insane city. We didnt arrive until after 1am so by the time we made it to the guesthouse we THOUGHT we were going to stay at, but it turned out that the guesthouse was full, as were many others so we had to do a bit of walking to find a place but we managed to find one not too far. After droping off our bags we all felt like we had a bit of energy so we went out for awile. We soon met a guy from the US who was fairly intoxicated and had become very lost. So we proceded to help this guy find his way, and there we are walking down the sidewalk when the guy just screams all the sudden and says "AWW I JUST KICKED A RAT!!!" I looked down to my horror and saw a rat the size of a small cat on its hind legs hopping towards me. Needless to say i freaked out and ran the other way. We ended up staying awake untill 5:30am and crashed. The next day we did the tourist thing and went and visted various temples and wats. One of my fav. things to happen so far was when we were visiting a temple called "the golden mountain" i ran into a group of young thai children who were incredably cute and just wanted to say the few words of english they knew. After saying hello and shaking hands we took our picture together and when i showed the pic to them all of they're faces lit right up, awesome experiance. After that we all practiced our best motorbike noise and had fun laughing with each other. Yesterday we went to the bangkok trainstation and got a ticket for a ride 1.5 hours north to Ayuthaya and it costed only 50 cents canadian, aw the life in Thailand. Once here we found a very beautiful guesthouse with a private pond and bike rentals. We went on a tour through the guesthouse to some of the various temples in the area and it was very interesting. Today wear are just taking it fairly easy and renting bikes and going around town. Its all been so much fun and i cant wait to see what elce this country has to offer. We are thinking of heading down south after this and it will be so great to relax on the beach for awhile. I hope all of you are doing well and i will try to keep this as up to date as possible. I am unable to get photo's on here for some reason so i am going to try to get some on facebook. Take care!!
